If everything I've eaten is store bought uneven and I have never tried at home, prepare to be amazed. There is no comparison between the two. Bought at the store where most dissimilar tastes like a fat piece of plastic, a piece made at home can prove as a juicy steak.

Western Barbecue Jerky

Ingredients:

• 1 teaspoon salt
• 3 tbsp brown sugar
• ¼ teaspoon pepper
• ½ cup red wine vinegar
• ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
• ½ cup ketchup
• 1 teaspoon onion powder
• 1 pound lean (buy the best cut you can afford it)
• ½ teaspoon garlic powder
• 1 teaspoon dry mustard

Instructions:

1. Cut the meat across the grain into long strips about ¼ inch thickness. Quick tip - Ask your butcher to cut you.
2. In a medium non-reactive (see note below) container with a lid closes tightly, combine all ingredients except meat. Stir to mix well.
3. Place meat in a container, seal and shake.
4. Place in refrigerator 6 to 12 hours, shaking occasionally.
5. Place strips on a drying rack if you have one or put them in a single layer on a baking tray lidding.
6. Place in oven at 140 to 160 F for 8 to 10 hours, turning the strips every 2 hours if not using a drying rack.
7. If meat is not dry low oven temperature to 130 and up to be dry (see note below).

Note on nonreactive Bowl: Hormel's website defines a nonreactive container as a container or bowl nonporous material does not change or add the flavor or change the color of a food preparation. Stainless steel, glass, enamel and glazed ceramics are examples of nonporous materials that do not alter the taste and appearance of foods such as tomatoes or citrus fruits that are high in acid content and may react with components of porous substance absorption. Note on the test for dryness: Rough test for dry cooling in one piece. When cool must break when bent without breaking.

There should be no moist spots.

Compost, how could appear nuts?

I have a worm compost bin in a plastic Rubbermaid covered in my backyard. It seems that nuts in it. At first I thought that maybe cacoons worm, but in google pictures of them and do not look anything like that. Any idea how I could have achieved the walnuts in a covered compost bin? People said that squirrels or chipmunks, but all are only 1 / 4 inch larger, and the lid is on tight.

Even say squirrels! They are crafty little creatures that can fit under the lid of a Rubbermaid Tote. Enter, leave and not be so difficult. Let me also a pair of walnut is not going to ruin your subscription! That's ridiculous! Nogales have crept over the land and poisons the earth all for now, if that were true. The roots of tree makes it very difficult for anything to grow, but a sprouted nut ... Give me a fucking break!
